Liver Club

The Liver Club is a series of scientific meetings introduced by MLF for doctors including specialists to keep doctors and specialist abreast of the latest developments in the diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary diseases, provide a forum for doctors to discuss difficult, problematic, complicated or interesting cases with their colleagues in gastroenterology and hepatology, and to keep doctors informed on research-in-progress in hepatobiliary diseases.

 

After the first 2 successful meetings held in 1998, the 3rd Liver Club was held on 23rd August 1998 at Subang Sheraton Hotel which was sponsored by Roche (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and the 4th Liver Club was held in Holiday Villa, Selangor on 4th April 1999. Two more are planned for the year 2000, one to be held in May 2000 in Penang and the other in Kuala Lumpur.

 

Liver Update

The Liver Update is a series of biennial scientific meetings organised by the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Ministry of Health and the Malaysian Liver Foundation. The 3rd Liver Update 1999 co-organised with the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology was held at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel in June 1999. The function was officiated by the Parliamentary Secretary, Dato’ M Mahalingam, Ministry of Health. The event covered a variety of topics including viral hepatitis, liver cancer, liver transplantation and new topics such as hepatorenal syndrome and paediatric liver problems.

 

The Malaysian Liver Foundation Lecture Award (MLF Lecture)

This series of lecture award was introduced during the 3rd Liver Update in recognition of the contribution of world renowned physicians, surgeons and researchers in the field of hepatobiliary medicine.

 

The recipient is honoured after the opening ceremony with a medallion, a certificate and a momento.
