Malaysian Liver Foundation's Charity Dinner

The MLF organised a fund-raising Charity Dinner on Saturday, 14 July 2007, at the Grand Ballroom, of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Petaling Jaya. It was held in conjunction with the 7th International Liver Conference ‘Liver Update 2007’.


Y.A.B. Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the distinguished Guest-of-Honour, was accompanied by his wife, Y.A. Bhg. Datin Seri Sharifah Aziah bt Syed Zainal Abidin.


Our trustees of the Foundation, comprising Y.Bhg Tun Mohammed Hanif B. Omar, Y.Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr Saleha Mohd Ali and Y.Bhg. Puan Sri Datin Seri Dr Susan Cheah, wife of Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah were present. The Executive Council Members of the MLF also attended the dinner.


A total of 80 dinner tables were set up for sale, priced at RM20,000, RM15,000, RM10,000 and RM7,000, which were tax-exempt. The event netted a surplus income over expenditure amounting to RM552,631.42 through the sale of seventy-five dinner tables and donations received.


The programme for the evening included a Welcome Address by Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Datuk Dr Hj. Mohd Ismail Merican, President of the MLF, a speech by the Guest of Honour and a Multimedia Presentation. The resident band of Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa, Petaling Jaya provided a live entertainment. There was also a Batek & Songket Fashion Show with the theme “Fashion Liveration Through Cultural Tradition” which portrayed the finest of cultural heritage of the Malaysian batek and songket ensemble. A pleasant surprise was the rendition of songs by Y.Bhg. Datin Seri Sharifah Aziah bt Syed Zainal Abidin, wife of Guest-of-Honour. In addition, the audience was entertained with a skit by Jit Murad.


The MLF would like to express its sincere thanks to all the valued supporters, who had bought tables, offered donations and door gifts. The Executive Council would like to thank Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, MLF’ Trustee and his staff for all the assistance in one way or another.


We hope that this fundraising project would in some way support the progress of the Foundation in its work and expansion. Most importantly, the funds collected would be channeled towards MLF’s building fund.
