Cheah Fook Ling

Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dato' Seri Jeffrey Cheah Fook Ling is the founder and President of the Sunway Group. He is a very active and reputable member of the corporate world and has the distinct honour of being one of the small group of self-accomplished entrepreneurs who has made his mark not only in this country but also internationally.

 

In recognition of Tan Sri's immeasurable contributions to society and the corporate world, he was appointed a member of the Malaysian Business Council by the Honourable Prime Minister in 1995. In 1996 he was appointed Chairman of the Malaysian Industry Government High Technology (MIGHT) for Construction and Housing. Tan Sri is also very much involved in the field of education and is responsible for the founding and development of Sunway College and its Twinning Programmes with foreign universities. For his significant contributions to higher education, he was appointed a member of the distinguished National Higher Education Council in 1996 by the Minister of Education. Tan Sri had the distinction of being conferred the Prestigious "Property Man of the Year" award in 1993, and the CEO of the Year (Malaysia) award in 1996. His unique contributions to Malaysia have not passed unnoticed outside Malaysia. In view of his outstanding contributions to industry, commerce and higher education he has been conferred eight Honorary doctorates by leading universities worldwide. Yet despite his phenomenal success in the corporate arena, his heavy business commitments and hectic work schedules, Tan Sri still makes time to carry out charity work. He sits on the Board of the National Kidney Foundation and is now a member of the Board of Trustees of the Malaysian Liver Foundation.

 

We are extremely proud to have this leader amongst leaders as a Trustee. Together we will work tirelessly to achieve the objectives of the Malaysian Liver Foundation.

Y.Bhg Tun Mohammed Hanif bin Omar has the distinction of being the frst graduate to enter the Royal Malaysian Police Force in 1959. Fifteen years later, after exhibiting remarkable prowess as a leader and a disciplinarian, he was appointed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), a post he held with reverence for an incredible 20 years.

 

His unprecedented length of tenure as IGP reflects interests of all Malaysians. Tun Hanif performed his duties diligently, without fanfare, and won the admiration of all Malaysians.

He retired as IGP on 15 January 1994.

 

In view of his outstanding and impeccable service as IGP, he was awarded the Darjah Seri Setia Mahkota (SSM) which carries the title of ''Tun''. This is indeed a rare honour for senior officers serving with the Government.

 

Tun Hanif has received numerous other awards from ASEAN member countries in recognition of his selfless service to the region. The many awards he received from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei and Philippines bear testimony to the respect and admiration he has earned from our ASEAN leaders. Since his retirement he has been very active, as besides being a member of the Board of Directors of several companies, he is also involved in a number of charitable activities. We are very privileged and proud to have
Y.Bhg Tun Hanif as one of our Trustees. With his guidance and experience, the Malaysian Liver Foundation will achieve tremendous success in helping fellow Malaysians do battle against liver disease.

YABhg. Tun Mohammed Hanif bin Omar

YBhg. Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim

Y.Bhg Tan Sri Dato' Azman Hashim is a prominent banker with vast experience in the banking and financial sphere. He is the Chairman of the AmBank Group - a banking and financial services group.

 

Tan Sri has been involved in banking since 1960, after his return from Australia as a Chartered Accountant. He worked with Bank Negara Malaysia from 1960–1964 and was subsequently appointed to the Board of Malayan Banking Berhad in 1966. In addition to being a Chartered Accountant, Tan Sri is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers, Malaysia.

 

In recognition of his high calibre, Tan Sri's banking career rapidly progressed and he became the Executive Director of Malayan Banking Berhad from 1971 to 1980 and Executive Chairman of Kwong Yik Bank Berhad (now RHB Bank Berhad) from 1980 to 1982. He was then appointed Chairman of the AmBank Group, a position he continues to hold today.

 

Tan Sri is the Chairman of the Association of Merchant Banks in Malaysia, as well as the National Productivity Corporation and Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) Malaysia. Yet despite his hectic schedule, Tan Sri finds time to be involved in the welfare of many organisations, including the Malaysian Medical Association Foundation, Malaysian South-South Corporation Berhad, Malaysia-Japan Economic Association, and Friends of Prisons Association.

 

Tan Sri is also very much involved in the fields of commerce and industry as he sits on the National Economic Consultative Council II (MAPEN II), Business Advisory Council of APEC (ABAC), Trilateral Commission (Asia-Pacific Group), Board of Advisors, AIM Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, Malaysia-British Business Council, Malaysian-China Business Council, Malaysia-Australia Foundation and the ASEAN-Japanese Business Meeting (Malaysia Committee, Keizai Doyukai). Tan Sri also serves as Treasurer of the Malaysia-US Private Sector Consultative Group and Vice-Chairman of the Malaysian Business Council.

 

The Malaysian Liver Foundation is very proud and honoured to have Tan Sri as one of our Trustees, and we are confident that with his expert guidance, leadership and financial abilities, MLF will soar to ever greater heights.

Dato’ Sri Robin Tan was appointed to the Board of Berjaya Corporation Berhad as an Executive Director on 21 December 2006. He was later appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of Berjaya Corporation Berhad on 1 January 2011 and subsequently as the Chairman and CEO of the Company on 23 February 2012.

 

He graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Accounting/Law from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, in 1995. He joined Berjaya Group Berhad in 1995 as an Executive and subsequently became the General Manager, Corporate Affairs in 1997. He also holds directorships in several other private limited companies in the Berjaya Corporation group of companies.
